On July 30, FamilySearch announced that the 155,000 1940 census indexing volunteers have completed 99% of the project! No batches remain for download at FamilySearch Indexing!
The remaining state indexes are expected to be published within three to four weeks after going through the post-indexing process. [1. GaleK, “Paying the Price,” FamilySearch Blog, 30 July 2012 (https://familysearch.org/blog/paying-price/ : accessed 1 August 2012).]
If you’ve been an indexer or arbitrator, you can collect your laurels here.
If you haven’t participated, you can join in the creation of the 1940 census project’s sequel, the US Immigration and Naturalization Community Project.
